Intercultural Week 2023

CCI Intercultural Week 2023 Graphic featuring a diverse group of people's silhouettes.

In alignment with Strategic Goal 3 for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the College of Communication and Information, we present CCI Intercultural Week 2023 on March 6-10. This event is being held to celebrate and sustain a college culture where diversity, equity, inclusion, and community are vital for creating a sense of belonging for all CCI members. Intercultural Week is designed to help us gather, acknowledge, appreciate, and celebrate the diversity of the CCI community and is intended to be interactive to encourage CCI members to showcase and own all their diverse aspects.

Tuesday, March 7: Talk Culture

What are you interested in outside your work? Would you like to share your passion for movies, arts, nature, museums, etc in a short 10 minute presentation. This event is 10-11 a.m. in the Ed Ingle Theatre, Room 402 in the Communication and Information Building.

Wednesday, March 8: Potluck

Share a bit of your culture through food! There will be a main meal provided but we’re asking participants to make one of their favorite dishes to share part of who they are. Lunch is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the CCI lobby and patio.

Thursday, March 9: Le’ale’a

Le’ale’a is Hawaiian and loosely translates to English as “fun” or “recreation” — which is exactly what this day is about! Please bring any board games, card games, fun activities that you like to do and share it with all of us! This event is 3-4 p.m. in the Ed Ingle Theatre, Room 402 in the Communication and Information Building.

Friday, March 10 – Bring Your Full Self to CCI

Do you have an outfit that represents your culture, background, or just who you are? Then make sure to put it on this day and share it with the rest of us at CCI!
